Connect Claude
Add Tenali to Claude as a custom MCP connector — step-by-step setup for Claude web, desktop and Claude Code, including Team and Enterprise rollouts.
Claude connects to Tenali as a custom connector. Once added, you can ask Claude about any meeting, action item or customer question in your Tenali workspace.
Plan Requirements
Custom connectors using remote MCP are available on Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, and the feature is currently in beta. Free is limited to one custom connector.
On the Tenali side you need a plan that includes AI chat — there's no separate MCP add-on.
First, in Tenali, open Settings → AI Assistants and click Copy next to the server URL. It's https://api.tenali.ai/api/mcp. Then follow the path for your plan.
Add the Connector
Editing a Custom Connector
Claude doesn't support editing a custom connector in place. To change one, remove it and add it again with the updated details. Owners remove organization connectors from Organization settings → Connectors.
Approving Permissions
The Tenali approval screen lists what Claude will be able to read. The optional permissions are ticked by default — untick any you'd rather withhold. The two required ones are always granted and can't be removed:
- Meeting summaries — required. Titles, attendees, briefs, summaries, action items and any custom sections.
- Question Intelligence — required. Customer questions detected across your meetings and the answers Tenali captured.
- Knowledge base content — optional. Your team's docs, FAQs and training sources.
- Raw meeting transcripts & recording playback — optional. Full timestamped transcript text and playback links.
- All meetings across your organization — admins only, when your workspace allows it.
See Permissions & Security for what each one unlocks.
Claude Code and Other Claude Surfaces
The Claude desktop app and Claude Code sessions signed in with your Claude.ai account use the same connector and the same server URL. Add it once under Customize → Connectors and it's available across those surfaces.
Claude Code sessions authenticated another way — an Anthropic API key, Amazon Bedrock or Google Vertex — don't share that connector. There you add Tenali as a remote MCP server directly and authenticate with /mcp.
Troubleshooting
- The AI Assistants tab isn't in Tenali — the MCP server is enabled per workspace. Contact your Tenali admin or
security@tenali.ai. - "Already completed" — the request was already used. Return to Claude; if it isn't connected, start a new connection from there.
- Claude asks to approve every call — every Tenali tool is marked read-only, so Claude can offer "Always allow". Choose it once and the prompts stop.
- Requests fail after working previously — check the connection still appears under Settings → AI Assistants in Tenali. If it was revoked, reconnect from Claude.
