FAQ: Summaries, Transcripts & Sharing

Answers about summary generation, transcript behavior, access, and share workflows.

Summary Generation

When does a summary appear after a meeting?

Usually a few minutes after the call ends.

The wait is deliberate. When a call finishes, Tenali re-processes the recording into a higher-accuracy final transcript and writes the summary from that rather than from the live transcript, so the recap reflects the more accurate version. If that re-processing runs long, Tenali stops waiting and generates the summary from the transcript it already has rather than holding it indefinitely.

Three outcomes are possible:

  • Ready — the summary appears on the meeting page. This is the normal case.
  • Still processing — the page shows a processing state. Generation retries on its own if it hits a transient problem, so a summary can occasionally take substantially longer than a few minutes to land.
  • No summary — a recording that captured no speech has nothing to summarise, and a small number of meetings fail generation permanently. If a summary hasn't appeared a couple of hours after the call, it isn't coming on its own — contact support with the meeting.

If the transcript is empty too, start with Diagnose an Empty Transcript.

Why do I only see partial summary content?

If the meeting is still live or processing is in progress, some sections may render incrementally.

Can summaries differ by meeting type?

Yes. Tabs and question sections can vary (for example, customer vs attendee questions).

Transcripts

Are transcript lines final immediately?

Interim transcript can appear first, then committed transcript is finalized as the stream stabilizes.

Can I use transcript excerpts in follow-ups?

Yes. Use excerpts for precision, but verify sensitive claims before external sharing.

Sharing and Access

Anyone with the link. The Share button generates a public, no-login, view-only link (app.tenali.ai/summary/shared/…) with no password, expiry, or per-person access control — so only share it with people you intend to see the full summary, transcript, and recording. (Separately, the in-app Shared with Me tab shows meetings teammates shared inside your workspace, which is account-based.)

Can Tenali email a summary for me?

Tenali emails you your own summary automatically — once a recorded meeting is summarised, the meeting owner gets it with the subject "Tenali Meeting Summary: meeting title". Nothing goes to anyone else.

To get it to other people, send it yourself: click Share to copy the public link and paste it into your own email or Slack, or use Download PDF to attach the summary and transcript. Tenali never emails anyone other than you — attendees and teammates get nothing on your behalf.
