Recording Modes — Fully Supported vs Universal

Understand the difference between Tenali's two recording modes and what to expect from each.

Tenali uses two different recording modes depending on which meeting platform you're on. Understanding the difference helps you set expectations and get the most out of every call.

Fully Supported Meetings

When you're on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Slack, Tenali uses its deepest level of integration. This is the best experience:

  • Audio + screen capture — Tenali captures both the conversation and visual context
  • Native meeting metadata — meeting ID, participant names, and platform-specific details are available
  • No time limit — recordings run as long as your meeting
  • Highest reliability — purpose-built integration with each platform

Universal Capture Meetings

For all other platforms — Webex, RingCentral, Dialpad, Aircall, Outreach, Salesloft, and many more — Tenali uses universal audio capture. You still get real-time transcription and answers, but with some differences:

  • Audio capture only — no screen or visual context
  • 60-minute time limit — Tenali shows a warning banner at 55 minutes and stops recording at 60 minutes
  • Generic meeting title — the meeting may show as the app name (e.g., "Webex" or "Impromptu Meeting") rather than a specific meeting ID
  • Works with any app — if Tenali can detect it, it can capture audio from it

Tips

  • Start your pilot on Zoom, Meet, or Teams — fully supported platforms give the most complete experience
  • Test universal capture internally first — run a short call on the platform before using it with customers
  • Watch for the 55-minute warning — if you're in a long universal capture session, you'll see a banner when time is running low
  • For the full list of supported platforms, see the Meeting Platforms Grid
